Rest and Relaxation
Space-available travel on Military Aircraft
Space-available travel allows authorized passengers to occupy DoD aircraft seats that are not filled after space-required passengers have been accommodated. Space-available travel is allowed on a non-mission interference basis only.

Space-available travel is considered a privilege for members of the Uniformed Services. Retired Uniformed Services members are given the privilege in recognition of a career of such rigorous duty and because they are eligible for recall to active duty. Reservists, too, have eligibility for space-available flights.
